the Maxmark Story
Max and Mark have been friends for more than a quarter century, and are now partnering up in business, to realize the shared dream of living and working close to paradise.
Paradise, of course, can be anywhere. Anywhere you find peace and happiness, kindred spirited people with heart and humor and kindness and creativity.
Add to that delicious food and drink and sparkling sun, air and water, and you may find yourself on the coast of Alentejo.
Life is short and every moment counts.
According to this truth, we decided to spend the rest of it, at least in part, in the most harmonious and enjoyable environment we could find.
And we found this, for us, in Portugal, right now. The world is rich with wonderful, amazing places, both wild and tame. But places of beauty and serenity just outside the metropolitan cities, is a rare find on continental Europe. And to us, it looks like Portugal is blessed with these wonders, more than most other European countries.
We founded Maxmark, LDA, to share our passion and discoveries with our friends and soon-to-be friends around the world, and to facilitate their enjoyment of the Portuguese experience. We scout for built real estate, as well as opportunities to build yourself, and we will take care of all the groundwork for you.

Max has been a real estate professional in California since 2004, and in recent years, he noted the trend of an international desire to enjoy this “New California” of Europe.

To honor the unique landscapes of Portugal, and its people and identity, we sat together and decided to source and produce a local version of the classic coodo™. And nothing made more sense, than to use one of Portugal’s premier products for this, which of course is cork.
Cork has many unique qualities, and in our construction, it replaces nearly 80% of materials that are traditionally made of plastic polymers, such as PVC. It is light, it is sustainable, and of course 100% biodegradable.
